From Victoria Falls Zimbabwe, we arranged to do a two day, 1 night Safari to Chobe National Park, just about an hour or so away. Doing the overnight Safari gave us many different opportunities for both game drives and boat safaris, which allowed us to see MANY different animals.
Please enjoy the some of my photography from, specifically, the various game drives we went on.
Arriving at the National Park.
A group of Male Impalas hanging out. There are thousands of Impalas throughout the park and often times they are hanging out quite Β close to the pathways, which is quite exciting.
Later on we found a massive group of female Impalas right near the road.
A lovely Giraffe we were lucky to stumble upon.
As our vehicle made its way closer to the water, we came across this sweet little group of Kudu. The birds on their backs are the Red-billed Oxpecker.
Another fun find as stumbling upon a Kori Bustard: the National Bird of Botswana. We found this little guy towards the end of our early morning game drive on the second day.
I love the lush greenery we were surrounded with the entire time! Often times on the game drives, there are times where you will go some time without seeing any animals.
This is the perfect opportunity to take in and appreciate the gorgeous nature around you.
Oddly enough, this elephant was actually found outside of the park just hanging out on the side of the road. Although we did see MANY elephants in the park (especially on the Boat Safari) this was one of my favorite encounters from our trip. We were also lucky to see a Giraffe on the side of the road very early in the morning, just as the sun was beginning to rise
One of the absolute highlights of the entire safari was the early morning game drive on the second day. We were picked up from our campsite in the morning while it was still dark out. Driving to the park, the sun was just beginning to rise. The sky was absolutely incredible. I love the silhouettes of the trees and birds in the sunrise sky. I don’t exactly remember what kind of birds these were but I believe it was some kind of stork.
Speaking of highlights, on this early morning game drive we were SO fortunate to have an incredible encounter with a group of female lions and cubs who were hanging out may 10 feet from the path. We saw one lion the first day, but it was a little further away, so slightly hard to see. It was incredible watching these lions as eventually the all gathered in a little clearing. This is a moment I will never forget!
Another lovely find in the morning was this gorgeous Lilac-Breasted Roller. This bird is super beautiful thanks to is coloring. In fact, when it flies you would notice its wings are a bright sapphire color.
The last photo I have for you is a photo of some cute little mongoose, who were actually hanging out at he hotel we stopped at for our lunch break.
I hope you enjoyed! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! π
